Immigration Secretary Sean Fraser said the IRCC will be able to process new express entry applications again within six months. By 2024, the goal is set to increase to 111,500. The IRCC needs to significantly increase the draw size early on to reach its 2024 target. These plans can be adjusted until November 1, when a new immigration-level multi-year plan must be presented.

Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway: Candidates must meet the Alberta Express Entry Stream eligibility criteria. Must be currently working in Alberta or have a job offer in one of 23 eligible occupations.

Quebec offers its own program called the Quebec Immigration Program for Workers in Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, and Visual Effects Sectors.

AI (Artificial Intelligence): There are two ways to qualify for this stream. If the candidate has graduated from a college or university in Quebec, work experience and recruitment are required. The first requirement of the Saskatchewan Tech Talent Pathway is to secure a job offer from a Saskatchewan employer. Saskatchewan operates its own job site, Saskjobs.ca. After finding a job opportunity, a job seeker should obtain an offer letter from her SINP before applying. Once job seekers have secured a vacancy, they can submit an application for state nomination through SINP's online application portal.

 

Once a provincial endorsement applicant is accepted, the individual can apply to the federal government for permanent residency in Canada. What are settlement services?

• Moving to a new country can bring many opportunities but also many challenges. Once in Canada, you may need help finding a job, making new friends, or learning English.
• Settlement services are programs and services that can help newcomers to Canada. Settlement services may be able to help you:

  • Find a place to live
  • Make new friends
  • Register for language classes
  • Assist you in accessing government/community services
  • Understand the local culture and customs
  • Understand your rights in Canada

Settlement services are usually free for newcomers to access. The benefits you receive are confidential.
Local community organizations often provide settlement services, such as multicultural societies, neighborhood houses, or libraries. Settlement workers at these organizations can usually support you in your first language (i.e. your “mother tongue”), in addition to providing services in English and French.

Most organizations that offer settlement services have requirements to meet to access their services. These eligibility requirements may differ depending on the kind of support you need and your current circumstances. The best way to know if you are eligible to receive services is to visit the organization’s website or contact them to learn more about how they can help you or your family members.
